Golden Globe 2020 Winners: Surprises from the Result

 

The winners of Golden Globe Awards 2020 have been announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles, California on January 06th, 2020.

The double win of “1917”. Universal Pictures’ “1917” took home the prize for Best Drama, beating out “The Irishman”, “Marriage Story”, “Joker”, and “The Two Popes”, while director Sam Mendes beat out favorites like Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino for Best Director.

“The Irishman” had absolutely nothing. The gangster film directed by Martin Scorsese has been a huge hit for nearly three months, and attended the 77th Golden Globe Awards with a total of five nominations. However, “The Irishman” ended up completely …, and more people are now really worried about the film’s Oscar-winning opportunity.

The prize for “Missing Link” is the unexpected results of the observers at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony on January 6. “Missing Link” defeated a series of blockbusters such as “Toy Story 4”, “The Lion King” and “Frozen 2”. “Missing Link” – the story of a Bigfoot looking for his relatives – ended up winning Best motion picture – animated. The film has surpassed a number of stunned names, including three films that earned more than US $1 billion in Disney last year.

“Marriage Story” almost received no awards. A psychological film about the divorce between a drama director (Adam Driver) and a talented actress (Scarlett Johansson) leads the list of film nominations when named in 6 categories. However, “Marriage Story” has only one trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture (Laura Dern). This is actually the prize that caused surprise because Jennifer Lopez of Hustlers which is more favored by the press in this category.

In that night, “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” emerged as the big winner at the 77th Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, taking home trophies for best musical or comedy, screenplay and supporting actor.

Another big surprise is that Disney was completely shut out of the animation category, even though it earned three of the five nominations for “Toy Story 4”, “Frozen 2”, and “The Lion King”.

Netflix channel also had no luck in Television. Like “The Irishman”, “Marriage Story” and “The Two Popes” in Best Motion Picture — Drama, “The Crown” failed in Best Television Series — Drama category. The trophy belonged to HBO’s “Succession”. In short, Netflix only won two awards: Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series — Drama (Olivia Colman) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture (Laura Dern) from a total of 34 nominations.
